The platform ticket which was available for Rs 10, you will have to buy at different railway stations of Delhi by paying Rs 30. In fact, the Indian Railways had stopped selling platform tickets for a long time in the Coronas.

Motive is to stop non-essential people from going to stations

The Railway Ministry has given a clarification on this after increasing the platform ticket rates from Rs. 30 to Rs. 50 at many railway stations of the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Bhopal. According to the Railway Ministry, the reason behind increasing the price of platform tickets is to control the congestion at the stations and prevent the non-essential people from going to the stations.

Platform ticket in Mumbai 5 times more expensive

Platform prices have also increased in Mumbai. Central Railway has increased the price of platform tickets of major stations of Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) by 5 times. The new rates of platform tickets in Mumbai have been implemented from 1 March and will remain till 15 June. Here, the price of platform ticket has been kept at 50 rupees, so that more people do not come to the station unnecessarily, so that the crowd does not increase and social distancing can be followed.
