Announcement can be made within 10 days
Confirming this, an official of the Union Home Ministry said that a formal announcement in this regard can be made within the next 10 days. Foreign tourists were banned from visiting India in March-2020 due to the Corona epidemic. However, due to this, the tourism, hospitality and aviation sectors were badly hit.
FREE visa will be issued
Officials said that the first five lakh foreign tourists will be issued free visas. The time period for this will be till 31 March 2022. However, if five lakh free visas are issued before this period, then this process will be stopped there. This may entail a financial cost of Rs 100 crore.
Terms will apply
Officials are considering when to allow foreign tourists to come to the country. Conditions are also being considered. For the time being, the idea is to limit it to tourists who have taken both doses of the vaccine. A list of such countries can also be made where the infection is more. A decision may also be taken on continuing the ban on their tourists for now.
