6 tips for first-time travellers

It can be overwhelming to get ready for your first trip. Despite knowing the fact that every first-time traveller’s preferences and every journey are different.

Here are 6 helpful tips for first-time travellers you need to know:

1. KNOW ABOUT YOUR TRAVEL DESTINATION

Before you travel, research the place you’re going. Is bargaining appropriate? Is it customary to tip? What constitutes appropriate clothing in diverse contexts? What kind of weather can you expect while you’re here? Are there any well-known local frauds to watch out for? Before you leave, you should find out the answers to all of these crucial questions.

2. TRAVEL DURING OFF-SEASON

What makes this time of year the off-season is the greatest question to ask when thinking about off-season vacation. Dealing with less-than-ideal weather or skipping seasonal activities may be worth it, or it may not. But it’s something to think about.

3. PACK LIGHT

‘Pack light’ is one of the primary pieces of advice I’d recommend to first-time travellers, especially if they plan to backpack. Test out the weight that you intend to bear to become familiar with it. Wear your fully-loaded rucksack while going about your everyday activities for a day or two. After you’ve done this, you might be more motivated to lose any excess weight before you go.

4. HAVE COPIES OF IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS

In case your original documents are lost or stolen, remember to make copies of all your critical documents, including your passport and visa. Your best bet is to have both paper copies and digital versions.

5. HIDE YOUR MONEY IN MULTIPLE SPOTS

A money belt is actually a wise concept. Never keep all of your cash in one location in case your coat, bag, or other item is taken or lost. Try to keep some cash on you, some in your bag, and some carefully stashed at the hotel where you are staying.

6. CARRY MEDICINE

Never skimp on the necessities for a stress-free trip, and a first-aid kit is crucial. Bring a variety of medications, especially if you’re visiting a place where the language is unknown to you. Carry bandages, antibiotic ointment, antibiotics, and other medical supplies.
